The Turbo Cup cars (at least in Canada) ran 245/45 in the front, and 255/40 in the rear. They were specially made Pirelly slicks, with P-Zero branding.

Funny enough, I don't remember what they ran as rain tires.

I was debating whether to get a set of 18's but my opinion changes like the wind!!
I am probably just going to get he RA1's and if I decide to go to 18's so be it ..

Interesting info.... Thanks
I have a set of those Turbo Cup wheels, but unlike the stock Club Sport wheels, that came with the Turbo S cars, the front wheels are 8's, so the can handle that wide of a tire in the front. I ran 245's up front with those cup wheels and they were great (but unlike the cup cars I ran only 245 in the rear)

The 944 works very well with 17" wheels and tires. I have setup many cars with 8-9" wide front wheels and 9-11" wide rear wheels, depending on suspension setup and street vs track. Using the same or very similar width front and rear makes for an excellent handling track car.

Another creative option for you guys looking to stay with 16" wheels is the Kumho Ecsta XS [excellent max performance tire BTW] in 225/50 and 265/45-16 sizes. The 265/45 fits easily on 9" rear wheel and is closer to the OD of 225/50 than the 245/45 size is.

Still working out assorted kinks in the car.. but I bit the bullet and bought the RA1's today ...
Hopefully they will come by the time I work out my issues with the car ...

I have a pair of 8 inch club sports from my 928 GT. Would 245 45 16 work in the front with the 265 45 16 in the rear? Like the idea of a larger tire protecting the vulnerable edges of the club sports, especially if your running 225 in the front and 245 in the rear.

The fronts would largely depend on the offset's of those 928 wheels
The Turbo Cup wheels have a very different offset than the 944 Turbo S wheels
They are like 55 or 58 ( can't remember ) maybe even 52? vs the stock turbo s wheels which are like 62 .... ?
There is little to no room if that offset is closer to the cars interior .. Ask me how I know ....
When I was tracking the car at the Glen years ago, I wore into the fender/wheel liner and was rubbing the tire into the fuel and brake lines at he bottom of the wheel well ... It was rubbing at- 2 degrees camber ... at turn 2.
I have a video of the rubbing sound, I had no idea what it was until after I got home and took the wheels off and saw the hole through the plastic liner
As for the rears I have no idea, as I stayed with the stock size tires and the Turbo Cup wheels which are 9's like the stock ones
Good luck
Regards
Ed

Guys on Pelican are posting about Bridgestone RE11s from Tire Rack in 245/45x16 and 225/50x16. In the uk will still get SO2s, T1Rs and Contisports plus R compounds from Toyo and Kumho.

I know a guy who runs 225/50/16 on all four corners and says the car still handles very well. That size is more readily available and probably will continue to be than the 245/45/16. Obviously not the best scenerio for track use, but around town it should be just fine.

A set of Star Specs or other decent tire in that size on all four wheels should work well, No?

Opinions?

I think I'm ok. The offsets are 60 on both the front and rear wheels. Could I then run a 245 45 16 up front?

great tyres! had mine a month and its stupidly wet right now in Auckland. They're popular for the track also. i got 245/45/16's and 225/50/16's, balanced and fitted for under a grand NZD. Readily available too.
