I´m wondering whats the function of this metalplate formed like a arrow?

Its hard to tell from the picture being blurry but it looks like the heat shield (or at least whats left of it) that covers the oil pan gasket on the right side of the block near where the header and cross over come together.

yes, sorry for the crappy picture.

hm, my new block didn´t have the plate at all, does someone have a picture of the heatshield that should be there?

aah
that answered why my old oilpan gasket looked very bad on one of the sides.
thanks for the picture.
does someone know the PET nr for it?

There are several different versions – the one in the full engine picture include the oil level sender shield. Earlier versions are smaller.
