How to time balance shafts w/o covers.

Motor is back in. took 20 minutes. ok back to belts. few things

-timing belt adjuster, to tighten do you go clockwise or counter.
-same with balance tensioner which direction to tighten.
-look at upper balance pic i think thats 1 o clock, tell me what you think.
-lower one looks closer to 6 than 7.

On my track car I cut up the back cover and put on just enough of it to provide the timing marks.

hope someone knows by lookin at those pics i mean the upper shaft pic, the mark is exactly at 1 o clock. maybe i need to put another 944 in the air and look im sure it would be easy to match them side by side. then once matched engrave marks.

I was planning on doing this also. But im having second thoughts since it wont make much of a difference taking the shield on and off (extra 5 min)

Just putting the minimum bits on allows changing the water pump without removing gears.

I think it looks good and its very easy to check and adjust tension thats all.
