Guys,
I've looked around a bit but could not find a good thread regarding intake manifold studs. I feel like I'm always removing the manifold for one thing or another and am just waiting for the day I pull all the threads out with one of the bolts.
Are these a common upgradea lot of guys are using? Any pit falls to worry about? Does anybody have a P/N for some studs that will work?
Thanks,
Rob

There was somebody making and selling them on here a while back. I think there is a sponsor (Rennbay?) or 944.com that sells them as well. I have them on two cars and appreciate them every time I take the manifold off. Good luck.

PLEASE!!!! I've already had to helicoil the bolt that attaches the fuel rail on the intake...I feel your same anxiety every time I'm torquing those bolts back down...I just know I'm going to get to around 12 ft/lbs and then it's going to start spinning...
If anyone has linkage to some superior bolts - PLEASE SHARE!!!!

I have been “studding” manifolds for a long time. You need to use locktite to secure the stud and get some nylocks (nylon locking nuts) to hold the intake down.
The front stud will interfere with the head stud nut if you ever need to get at it – so don’t locktite the front stud.
I forget the right length – I have a large stock of all sorts of hardware so I just grab what fits!
Studding the fuel rail is a nice idea for safety – but the rear nut is a pain in the butt to get on!

As I recall, the only disadvantage was the risk of the studs scratching the mating surface of the IM when installing it.

So it takes exhaust studs? I just might have the Saturn studs laying around and will try this.
I stripped my 2nd hole after my clutch job, even after purposefully reducing the torque on my wrench.
I have yet to pull the intake again and helicoil it.
The other benefit is you don't have to play with aligning the gasket on every hole or risk getting the bolt cross-threaded.

Well, HERE is one I remember.

FYI everyone - The part number from that thread for the Saturn studs (with the hex key end) was 11518152.
So I guess the only question is whether to go with the Saturn studs or use Porsche exhaust manifold studs.
Thanks guys.
