Default rear shock bolts

I recently removed my rear shocks to adjust them, and found out the bolts needed to be replaced. The threads were worn. Porsche does not supply them any longer, and I could not find any at the usual Porsche supply places. After doing some research on the net, BMW part number 07-11-9-914-829 can be used. Both bolts are M14x1.5x85. The only difference is the Porsche bolt is a grade 8.8 while the BMW part is 10.9. Hopefully this can help someone out.

Should I replace mine with 10.9's if I run rear coilovers (Bilstein Escort rear) or stay with stock 8.8? I wanted to buy a pair of spares anyways...

It wouldn't hurt to use the BMW bolts.

Sam, I ran for years with the stock bolt and the Bilstein Escort coil overs. I had no problems, except the rubber shock bushings deformed over time. Eventually I went with spherical bushings and had to go with the Racer's Edge 1/2" conversion.

I've been running a set of 10.9 bolts w/ my coilovers w/ no problems after 4 years. The stock bolts were too short to adequately space the Moton away from the arm, so I bought some longer generic black oxide bolts and cut some additional threads into them. I spin them w/ an impact after every few races looking for wobble and so far, so good.

Of course, I bought ~10 of them thinking I'd need spares....

Nope, stock escort coilovers on the stock bolts...going on 3 years now I think - havent got around to pulling the rears and having them sent to Bilstein to be modified for spherical bushings yet.

Yup, mine are a bit deformed, not too bad. They dont have many miles on them, Im still planning on having them changed over, maybe next winter.
