Thought I'd post up some pics of my diamond in the rough. Was super impressed with motor and how well car runs with this many miles. The paint is in pretty awesome shape too.
However, I am contemplating doing what I think it's main intentions should be....race car with an LS1 in it![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Let me know what you guys think of her![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I looked at a 951 off of craigslist last year and the guy said he worked on a car from Colorado with over 300k on it. Anyway the guy wasted my time and misrepresented his car. I wanted to let you know what I thought of him if you knew him, haha.

Guess there are a few of em' running around.
Just out of curiosity....what do you think a good running motor w/electronics would bring?
If it was a low mile survivor i would never consider the swap, but for a track/street monster, I think this provides me a great platform since it will look nice too.

T belt at 290k.....I assume it's been rebuilt at some point considering it just passed emissions with FLYING colors ( I was super impressed....not even to 20% of min's here in Denver).
I think the turbo burns a lil oil but i bought a newer k26/6 for it.
Goes to show you, at stock power levels/mods (car is 100% unmodified) these things will last forever.

A friend of mine has well over 300k miles (american car) on his n/a and compression is still strong and burns very little oil. I know a 951 probably has seen more abuse and more stress, but if maintained and left stock, these are quite reliable cars.
If you are going to drive it on the street it would be nice to see you retain the Porsche motor, but if you are building a race car, the skys the limit. Good luck and have fun!

Yea I really would keep it this way as just a driver/etc, but the last 951 I had was wrecked not too badly and I sold it to go Formula F2000 racing in Canada.
Always felt that I should have taken that car and gone racing with it.....I feel too contrained with this things torque/balance on the street!
My goal is to hopefully get this into a race car, then find a nice 88 S or 89 that I can keep bone stock (pretty much) as a keeper car.
Thanks a ton for your responses!

Not really. I have run several cars up to that kind of mileage. Just take care of it and they really do last.
The big problem is that people start abusing cars once they reach higher mileage. They "act" like the car is unreliable, when the reality is the car has never faulted them.
I have watched many friends do the old "well, my car is starting to get unreliable...." dance, so that they can justify buying a new car. When the reality is the car just has some miles on it but has never had a problem.
Most cars once worn in really don't go down hill.
