Default Saikou Michi catch can and drilling AOS

I've researched crankcase ventilation on this forum and will be installing a Saikou Michi catch can very soon. Those who've installed a catch can while retaining vacuum -

1) did you also increase the opening at the top of the AOS
2) have you experienced any negative effects

Thanks.

No negative effects. However, I haven't collected a drop of oil in my OCC. No, I didn't enlarge my AOS.

Thanks for providing another clear picture of the install.

Looking for some info if there can be risk to pulling too much vacuum from the crankcase when the turbo spools and sucks more air.

No problems with mine either. I drain it every other oil change, all that comes out is milky looking water (condensation). I will say the turbo compressor is much cleaner though. Prior to the catch can there would be a film of oil on the blades.

Good to hear. Looking forward to the install.

Would there be any risk of pulling too much vacuum with an opened AOS?

All the ones I've seen that didn't affect the stock airbox location went either where the cruise control servo is or where the washer fluid tank is. If someone could post up the dimensions for you, I'm sure you could find a place in there to put it.

Kyle, don't waste time drilling the AOS. There is no reason to. The only reason someone came up with that idea was to compensate for running a catch can to the atmos (which isn't the best idea). Run it back into the intake, don't drill the AOS and you'll be good to go.

I will have to disagree here..

Drilling the AOS increases flow as you make more power you have more blowby and need that extra flow to stop from creating positive crankcase pressure.

Same can here with same install as previous - I haven't checked mine yet...only been on for one oil change cycle...but easy install into the stock airbox brackets that get left behind if you have a MAF installed.

Thanks for the replies. Seems most do not open it up if retaining the vacuum. Could there be any harm in opening it up some and pulling more vacuum out of the crankcase?
