Default Nickel Plated Awesomeness...

I had my new rotors electroless nickel plated to ensure a rust free surface when the car sits for extended periods of time. I spent a decent amount of $$ on the new brake set up, so it made sense to go the extra mile.

The local firm I used were amazing (Classic Plating). They had done rotors before, but never anything like the 2 piece 993tt front rotors & they tackled the job with an enthusiastic & very meticulous attitude. The result is simply beautiful.

Can't wait to get these installed....

It won't by the 2nd time he hits the brakes... because the nickle will strip off the wear surface the first time he hits em... OK maybe the second time if the first touch of the brakes is a soft one...

Nice job though, it WILL keep the hats and vents from rusting, but keep an eye on them as the nickle may be affected by the heat of heavy braking...

Looks nice IMHO...

They are from RS Barn - I believe he makes his own & they are very high quality.

Should have no affect at all - the plater masked all braking surfaces with a latex like coating prior to the treatment. You can see a couple of "chunks" of the stuff in the second picture.

NICE!

Stree or track use?

had mine zinc plated, when I overheated brakes on track the outside edges and vented surfaces burned off the coating. Hats still look great but the rest not so much.

Yours should last forever in primarily street use.

Damn! Do I put off my project another few weeks or not? Haha

Was the total cost still around $40?

Also, those are some nice brake lines. I like how they have the black coils for the front lines. It's the little things that count!
