I broke my speedo needle tonight replacing the odometer drive gear. I was trying to push it back in and the tiny shaft broke where it meets the thicker shaft around the base of the needle. What are my options? Anyone have an extra needle or a 180mph speedo for sale?

If you haven't checked ebay, don't bother. $350-450 for a 180mph speedo, not even the complete cluster. There's a needle on ebay for $20 but it doesn't look like it comes with the shaft that goes into the speedometer.
I sent an email to North Hollywood Speedometer to see if they have a replacement needle, I'll let you know what they say.

The needle is the same - doesnt matter what cluster it comes out of- NA, S2, turbo 160/180 etc. What is different is the brightness of the orange - seems to fade over time.
Sounds like you actually broke the shaft coming out of the gauge to the cluster though?

I broke the shaft on the back of the needle that connects the needle to the gauge. I'm not concerned at all with the orange, hell, I'll take a pink needle with little purple polka-dots so long as it does the job. I'm afraid I'll end up having to replace the whole speedometer, which is why the concern for 180 vs. 160 arises.
