Door Speakers
Looking for any suggestions for replacing door speakers with power windows. I pulled out the the old ones and they literally disintegrated in my hand. Now, I did a search, and the last on this topic was 2008. All the models from various brands have been discontinued. Is there anybody out there who has had any luck finding something without modification or grill gaps. Thanks

I've got a set of eclipse 4x6 coax's in the doors of my 951...not sure if they are made anymore though. Had some of the infinity 4x6 plate components with spacers in my 924S and those sounded great.

I have a nice pair of 4x6 blaupunkts. Only used a few hours. Bought them new about 6 months ago.
I replaced my door cards with 968 parts. No longer need the speakers
I'd let'em go for $35 shipped.

Mounting depth is only part of the problem. Most new speakers won't fit even if the mounting depth is correct because the tweeters and the roll lip stick up to high.
I posted a list of currently available speakers in this thread (post #29) that SHOULD fit: https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...-good-guy.html

^^ You are correct.
I have Alpine SPS-406 in my doors. The speakers fit fine, but the tweeter sits out about 3/16 from the front of the speaker.
I used a hole saw to cut a 1 1/8" (if I remember right) hole in the speaker grills so they would fit flush. The tweeters are finished nicely, and fit snug in the holes I cut, so it doesn't look nearly as bad as it sounds lol. It actually looks alright.

I'm going to be searching for replacement speakers as well. The PO decided to stick sony explodes in the doors, but of course the grill didn't fit so he just left them off so I'll have to find some grill guards as well.

M670 10-speaker setup, but you will either need to do a little cutting on your current door card or you'll need to source the M670 door cards. Finding them with good speakers is a whole different story, but I know all three of the front speakers are still available new, as are the black tweeter grills.

I just picked up a 928 and I'm not a big fan of all the small speakers in the doors. What does a 968 panel hold? Any body out there put a 6x9 in the door?

As far as speakers go, 968 door panels are basically the same as 944 M670 panels.
Tweeter up top
5 1/4" mid mounted under the door pull.
There is a provision in the speaker pod for a 3 1/2" or 4".
