John
My last alignment was, I think, -2.6 deg camber in the front with my 9"x17" 255 tires.

I agree, though, if you're going to stick with 16" tires just go with 8" wheels and 245's all around. I went with 17" wheels for better tire selection.

Note that many manufacturers run staggered (smaller in front) setups to induce understeer. For the novice driver (buyer) understeer is safer than oversteer. I've found that 944's love same sized tires/wheels at all 4 corners; balanced but tossable. Have been running 7x15's on my 85.5, 8x15's on my 84 SP2 racer, and 9x16's on my 944S2.

Not sure what the problem is with those people, many people have run 285s on 18x10s on stock, unrolled fenders, including us.

There should be a rule on these forums that if you don't know what you're talking about you shouldn't post. Maybe it's just me who hates to wade through pages of misinformation in order to find an answer to a search, though...

I'd recommend the 8x16 on all four corners as well if you aren't carrying a lot of extra rubber with you to the track (and have a way to mount/balance near the track). Being able to swap tires from corner to corner will really help you with extended tire wear. Nothing worse than cording the fronts (with no spares) and having rears that look brand new, lol.

Lowside, are you using a CCW spacer for the front?

Wow, great feedback....
Definitely more positive than negative on the subject. I would love to go 17's, but already had a pair of 8" PD's and so thought I'd source out another set of wheels to complete the 4 x 8" set-up. I will say I wish there were more 245/45/16's to choose from. I'll be looking forward to running this set-up.

BTW- if anyone needs 7" PD's in early offset (23.3) let me know.
I also have a set of Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position RE050A 205/55/R16 & 225/50/R16 with less than 5k miles. Treadwear 140

This is why I went to 17s. I ran 245/45/16 all around for years. It's a great balance between cost and performance.

I'd love to bump up to 275s on the front, but I'd need to rebuild my wheels to make them wide enough. I'm also rubbing the inside rear of the tire on the fender liner at full lock with my 255s.

Tiny little 5mm spacer to keep it from rubbing on the strut due to tire deflection.

Is your car early or late offset?

As a low budget racer, I run clubsport 9x16 on all four corners with 245/45-16 Hoosier R6. I really like the setup as I can rotate tires anywhere I want depending on the track. Some are hard on left front and some on the right front. Rears wear about the same and typically on the inside first with the -1 degree camber. Fronts typically wear on the outside edge so I get pretty even wear on the tires if I keep an eye on them. Car is well balanced and predictable with the same size on all corners. I have run 275's on the rear and can't tell much difference but I'm not much of an engineer. I always wonder how the pro drivers can tell the difference of a quarter of a pound of air adjustment.

Funny how the setup vary per car.

I started (with the current car) with 255's on all 4 corners (NT01's), then went to 275's on all 4 corners, then went to 315's on the rear, then went to 315's on all 4 corners. In each time the difference was pretty big.

And the setup, according to the tire temps dictate that I run 2.75 degrees neg camber on the front and 2.5 degrees neg on the rear. This gives me pretty even tire wear.

But I never have been able to detect any difference in with air temps a few pounds in either direction.
