Chris, the preference would be for a full cage in most cases, but it's not always do able. I just have to hope that someone like John has designed and built a superior product to the generic 1/2 cages on the market.

ill probably have my guy weld in plates above the contact points to reinforce. b/w the body and the bar mounting pad.

Thing is if it's for a car that is primarily a road car and you don't want to make a permanent fixture with a cage or half cage you are faced with a bolt in solution or nothing at all. Guess if you can find a decent bolt in it's better than nothing.
