928 V8 in a 944 VS. Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona
Ah yes while we are debating a Porsche V8 in 944 those darn racers have gone and upstaged us with a Porsche V8 combo that has not even hit this forum/related threads.
Those guys (Action Express Racing) have managed to take V8 from a cayenne, reworked it and dumped it in a Riley Chassis (car #9). A V8 that was far to rich for me to even lust after!! I will give them the Riley chassis part as a freebee, it was after all part of 58 BRUMOS car that won last year. Porsche was more than happy to take their part of credit from as a winning combo so Riley cannot be all bad.
While we are worried about old V8's in old Chassis they went and put the newest V8 Porsche makes, stuffed it in a competitive chassis and are on the lead lap at the Rolex 24 Hours, Last I checked.
Forgive me if I start this thread and go to bed, but the Speed Vision will resume the racing early in the morning CT time!!
GOD BLESS THEM PORSCHE V8 PORSCHE BOYS!!

Good news, Action Express Won overall! I am very happy for those guys. It's also great to see that this powerplant is a race winner. Now we need to figure out a way to fit a Chayanne V8 in to a 944 chassis?

I was starting to wonder if anyone else was watching? No last minute nail bitters like last year, just a really well run race on Action Express's part. I think we would all agree it is nice to see the "underdog" porsche boys pull of a win!!
The only way it would have been sweeter is if Jourg Burgmiester in car 67 had won GT class as well.
It will be realy intersting to see how/if Porsche will use of this win in its ads and PR.
Now about putting that Cayanne V8 in my 944...........

Who the hell cares about Porsche's head office boys? A team takes a cast off chassis and drops in as unorthodox a motor as possible and win Daytona? I hope they are! If they could commit to a racing series for more than 5 minutes maybe they'd have the right to be pissed. I'm a Porsche fan, not a Porsche management fan. It's a good thing they build the best sports cars in the world because their management is some of the worst in the world.

Check in on the other thread around here about 928 V8 in 944.
Actually a good friend of mine when I was still in Orlando had said we wanted to "some day" run a car at Rolex. He is a V8 guy so I comprised and said if we did, it would be a 944 chassis but would have to be a Porsche V8 if we ran a V8 motor.
We had the right idea, just no execution/capital. lol But glad to see a team do it an pull it off!!
