Hey guys- I recently sold my 944 Turbo S ($13K) for a 996 Twin Turbo. I'm thinking about picking up an S2 for autocross and I was curious what a relatively decent example goes for? Is a car with 100K miles, and good service history worth $6K or is that too high for this model?
Thanks for the help

Seems a little low to me. My car isn't a good comparison. I got kind of a steal on mine. 80k miles with lots of work and relatvely stock, yet wrecked and a turbo trans. $8,000. I think a nice S2 example should bring close to $9-10k, truthfully.

6k for a low mile example with records is probably a little low... but you can buy higher mileage examples for 4k, and as long as you keep an eye on the cam chain tensioner and cam gears, the S2 engine is very robust and will run forever. I've had 2 that went well over 150k miles and they still ran great.... and they are a better autocross car than the 951 and surprisingly quick on the track when properly set up.

Well the apple didnt fall far from the tree... The Turbo S felt much lighter, but the 996TT has significantly more grip (granted it has larger tires, PSS9's). There is no comparison in power- the stock 3.6TT has insance low end grunt that we just cant seem to get from a chipped 2.5T. Overall I thought the 944 was great, but the 996TT is better overall- more comfort, more power, more grip, AWD, PSM for the rain, nav, heated seats.
There is also the aspect that we rarely admit to- the common joe likes the 911 more than the 944 (not a basis for purchase but still worth noting). I was a proud owner of my burgundy plaid interior, but people couldnt seem to appreciate the overall shape of the car.
Last note... I should have just kept both.

I was all set to buy a GT3 until I drove my friends. The performance was good, steering feel amazing, but the interior and build quality were terrible! Much worse than my old 951S.
I sat down and thought about what I wanted and decided that a 996tt or GT3 was too expensive of a car to risk on the track, which is why I wasn't thrilled about tracking my current M3. Then I found a nice 951S fairly close and that sealed the deal.
I'm selling the M3 and with the cash from that, buying the 951S, paying off my wife's car loan and then getting rid of our old Jeep Cherokee for a newer 4Runner or something. That way I'll have a fun street/track car with the proper safety equipment in it for the track, a decent SUV and no more car loans.

Sorry to hijack your thread but if you had a silver rose with the plaid interior would you mind sending me the info so that I could add it to this registry? http://www.bakody.com/silverrose.html
