Best way to ship wheels
So what methods do you guys use to ship wheels?
I've heard greyhound ground, or fedex ground are two good ways to go, though I'm not sure I care for the idea of using greyhound to be honest.
As for packaging I was thinking of using cardboard or something on both sides of the wheel itself and wrapping in plastic wrap of some sort.
Any other ideas?
Also, I know that the wheels themselves weigh 18.5 and 20 pounds respectively (phone dials, front and back) but I'm unsure how much tires weigh. They're sport tires with pretty thick sidewalls so I imagine it's a decent bit.

I just sent four forged for ~$100 to PNW, no tires. Shed the rubber, wrap the hell outta' them with bubble wrap & that seran wrap stuff, add a piece of cardboard to each of the rim faces, and load into a decent box.
Pickup an Arbys on the way home.

I shipped 4 wheels with tires (15" deflated) via USPS for about $18 per from PA to MN. This was about 5yrs ago, but the Post Office doesn't change prices too often. It's still worth a look. I put an extrat thick piece of cardboard on the rim face, and wrapped with shrink wrap (home depot or stapels for a 100' roll). As long as each wheel is under 50lbs they will take it. Size isn't an issue -- most wheels will be well under the size limits. If shipping 4 seperate items is scarey, insure them, the couple extra bucks will more than pay to replace it.
Sounds crazy but I did it, with poeple watching me hand wheels over the counter and all.

If you need all the packaging material for the wheels and tires let me know. I'd be happy to supply it for you. If just wheels, go to a local wheel shop and ask for boxes.
