Default 951 Turbo Cup Chip EPROM

I tried search but didnt come up with anything.

The issue I am having it that I am converting to turbo cup chips by copying a set. My father who is an electronic engineer thinks that the chip may be a custom chip made by Bosch that has custom pinouts?? Not sure what that means. Anyone have any insight if it needs a custom chip or if a standard 28 EPROM will work?

Thanks
Brian

It is a standard EPROM chip, 8 bit x 8K in the 2764 series. Millions were made. I can burn a copy for you if you want.

Brian,

Do you have a 28 pin Cup chip or a 24 pin chip that you are copying? An original set, or a copy of a copy?

The first thing anyone who as ever done with their Cup car is to get rid of the chips.. For my car I ended up with several chip versions. Ran the car with Guru Chips which were the ones to have at the time.. Until I had had them for a month and local friend got me some better ones after being unimpressed with Dannos code (which he already had a copy of)..

The Cup chips are no better than the stock chips even though the code might be slightly different.. Bear in mind that these cars where run on low (stock boost) as a one type class. The cars were only supposed to be as fast as the other identical cars.

Having owned the first Cup car produced I must say that as a 951-Fan they are the ones to have. But in this time and age there are more track prepped cars around that may lack the vintage of being factory cars but compensate well and beyond by having (more) modern setups.

If I ever own a 951 Cup car again I'd change out pretty much everything that are considered the holy grail fairy dust items discussed online..

It's just a 951 without sunroof, with a Matter cage and option code 666 with the two luxury items being heater and fan.. And still managing to be very comfortable.

Lol, and I thought I was long winded

Of course there are better options, but if you are doing your own tuning, might as well start with the best you can get ahold of, no?

I have no idea what the point is doing the work yourself. Save the gas money that is needed for tuning and just buy something that works.

Make things as simple as possible to start with.

To each their own... For me the fun is getting there, not the finish-line.

Some racing classes require factory chips.

Nope. I had enough power to have fun running at 1.4 bar with the tiny K26.

I had a little upgrade package that was partly on the car but not started with it with a Vitesse S3 kit with piggyback, SFR bad *** headers, FMIC and oil cooler, godzilla BOV, Synchronic WG, Fidanza flywheel and a few other things like an EBC..

I intend to own a 951 with similar mods sometime again, and make it a street toy with track capability.

That mod package was bought by a friend of mine btw, he is running it on a red 1986 Cup car..
