The 86 German Cup/Chips were basically the stock mapping, w/ the redline raised. Stilled rated for 217/220 hp, all information indicates they raced in the German Cup series with catalytic converters installed, on pump gas, stock boost. So very likely there was little to no ignition changes in the chip maps.

The chip sets used w/ the 87 US Club Sport/Escort cars (and later also used for upgrading the French Turbo Cup cars) are the hot sets. Those cars ran higher boost, came with modifications to the waste gates, 3.0 bar FPR. Factory recommended 104 oct, and the Escort teams were running higher than that for the endurance races (108+).

Not a lot to improve on the Escort chips if the car is running the stock AFM and K26/8 turbo around 15 psi, and youre willing to run race gas. If you start changing components and boost level, then you can get an aftermarket chip tuned to optimize the new setup.

You will have less luck convincing race officials that a chip set that says "VITESSE" or "951MAX" is an original factory Cup chip... The reality is - the cars are commonly tech'd for boost level. If they make the required boost, ok. I have not seen a scrutineer require the DME/KLR boxes be opened.

That has been my experience, too.

Any additional info about KLR\DME chips. I have one cup car and came with
951 618 113 08 reference KLR, but it was remplaced several times (several stickers on the KLR) during the events and the first reference it was 951 618 113 01 . I think that the last number indicates the evoluion of the chip, the 91´s 951 stock cars had 951 618 113 09. I´m looking if it is possible to get 951 618 113\121 30\31 (968 Turbo RS reference KLR-DME), I think it was different mapping for the ignition of the 3 liter engine.

The Cup DME/KLRs that I have seen and also Cup part number reference lists ('87 US Club Sport, '88 Canadian Cup, '88 Euro Cup) all indicate 951 618 121 05 (DME) and 951 618 113 05 (KLR). The labels are black instead of the rose/red color of the standard cars. And the boxes have a seal sticker (anti-tamper) on one edge of the box covers which has some sort of motor vehicle safety statement on it and says "TYPE: CUP-CAR" in the corner.

Not sure what you have with multiple stickers going from -01 up to -08. What is the model year of your car, and which series was it built for/raced in?

If you can post a picture of the DME and KLR labels, I would be interested in seeing them. And the car too.

Thanks,
