Default Schnell Short Shift Kit

It seems from searching the forum and the internet, that the only true short shift kit available is the Schnell unit?

Is this the best one to get for a 951? It seems like quite a bargain at $100.

It is similar to the old Weltmeister that was double the price. Since I am having the clutch and everything re-done anyways, should I have one of these put in the 951 when it goes back together? Is there a noticeable improvement?

I can't speak about the Schnell one, but I had the Weltmeister, and loved it. And yes, it was great and took a lot of the slop out, and made the throws shorter as well. I plan to get this one again too.

I thought the one I had was junk, it wouldn't stay on the trans. I made one myself with d-shaped hole in it instead of a round hole on a wire machine. Mine is much better than theirs, I wish someone would make them the way mine is, unless they've changed them, haven't looked for a long time!

On the Schnell, you must must must safety wire the bolts on the transaxle connection (the big block part, M8 bolt IIRC) and the small bolt that connects it to the shift rod itself (M6 I think).

If you dont, they WILL fall out.

Why not use nylon lock nuts?

I just read why not to use lock nuts...you said "BOLTS".

It seems that safety wire and locktite would work better and likely just using loctite would work, just harder to remove.
