Thanks Jason. Interesting reading. Still have a question though, will the rotors work, if not which ones should I look for?

the Lindsey racing site shows 6 options for the M030 turbo S

Big Black/ C2 turbo rotors
Big Black/ GTS rotors
Big Red / C2 turbo rotors
Big Red / GTS rotors
Big Black / 993TT rotors
Big Red / 993TT rotors

Hope this might help

I have Big Blacks on my car, though i'm not sure if they are from a 993tt or a 928 gts. My rotors have stress cracks around the cross drill holes and I need to get new rotors for them. Just not sure which ones unless the rotors for the gts and the 993tt are the same. Would also like to get slotted rotors instead of cross drilled. Anyone know anything about a possible difference in rotors from the two?

Good place to start to to pull the rotor and get the part number off of the rotor and look that up. It should tell you what rotor you have.

I thought the Mono blocks wouldn't fit on the Mo30 setup due to the bolt spacing?

Requires an adaptor.

Bob, do you remember where you bought your rotors?

And what spindles are on your car?

I don't think you can fit an adaptor though. That's why the the Big B/Rs fit but not the 996s. I know Olli has them fitted but that was to a non Mo30 car.

I've had that Pelican link saved for some time. Quite useful.

I believe the difference is the MO30 hubs/spindles mount the brakes radially. (Bolts from top of the caliper) This is why the 993tt, 928gts brakes bolt right on those. its the proper mount. An adapter for the 996tt mono blocks would be very difficult to do since the only difference would be a slightly wider mounting bolt spacing (Than the 993tt calipers) that might not be enough difference to clear the origin holes. Those would have to be filled in with weld, and new ones drilled and tapped.. Not easy.

The Stock brakes for a non M030 951 mount axially. (from the side) So a fairly simple "L" bracket is all that is required to adapt. So in that sense, Mo30 difficult. regular old '87 up easy.

But my problem is all the adapters for the regular hubs are made with the narrower bolt spacing for the 993tt brakes, not the 996tt mono blocks.
I would like to add that the '86's are different in that they need a completely different back spacing on the rotor than any of the newer models. And of course, they're a huge pain in the *** to remove/replace compared to the newer ones. Correction.. 1986 needs a different caliper adapter than the newer models.

Behold, one of the FEW (maybe only, haha) advantages to non M030
