Default what would happen if we disconnect the boost line to the KLR

........Besides the fact that the stock boost gauge wouldn't work, is there anything with the KLR that it needs this signal.

It might be the other way around the over boost protection might kick in

Nope. I run this way daily.
*edit - one thought is that it might delay the DME from going to the WOT fuel/timing map, I would have to look through my notes.
I doubt this would be troublesome, as the DME will go to the WOT maps when throttle is >60% anyway.*

Overboost protection is still there - that is a function of the DME.

Nope - no (real) issues running with the line disconnected.

So how does the DME adjust for boost if it doesn't see any?

DME never knows boost directly... (without changing the software)
The DME adjusts its fueling for airflow, via the airflow meter (AFM or MAF) and RPM.
Furthermore, the DME uses a static 2-dimensional MAP for timing after ~60% throttle...

Hmm this is a good question. I knew that overboost was through the DME, along with timing and even fuel, but what exactly does the klr even do then once you have a mbc?
Is the klr used exclusively for controlling the cycling valve?

I've put out a lot of info in the DIY tuning thread. Going to do some updates to that thread now...

Rogue_ant if I want you to custom tune my car what do I need to do lol.
I just want a tune for my car without having to buy a 1400 dollar system just for tuning (maf + software)
I have the bigger turbo and I'd really appreciate being able to use it correctly instead of stabbing in the dark with increased fuel pressure and DME FQS settings...

Once you remove the cycling valve, the KLR simply listens/filters the knock sensor signal, and pulls ignition timing as necessary... It does this in two increments of three degrees. So if it detects knock, it pulls three degrees of timing. If knock still persists, then it pulls six degrees of timing.

Rogue its good to see you around here again..

I was under the impression the KLR would pull 3 degrees if it saw any problem with the know sensor like inadequate background noise etc have you seen any evidence of this ?
have you scoped the inputs and out puts of the KLR? i still dream about using it with my motec ..

Thanks, finally got some free time on my hands (not enough time though!), so I figured I would try to catch up.
I have not seen any evidence the KLR will pull timing, unless there is knock...
If you are going with the Motec, then get a J&S Safeguard... The KLR was amazing for the time, but I would trade it for a Safeguard any-day.

oh i just looked it gives you a bit of timing fiddle also mmm nice good value compared to motec stuff i just paid that much for 2 pressure transducers
