Default Thanksgiving day maricle, the car is running. DME Chip question.

Car has been on jack stands since Feb to fix a couple of things.. then a couple more things broke.. so we fixed those too

I am wondering now though. The car does not have a IAC and cold starts you need to keep your foot on the gas till it warms up a bit then it will idle fine. The car has a EuroProducts dme and klr chip and needless to say they have only been "mediocre" at best (came with the car).

Do you think going to a Vetesse chip will help with the cold idle problem? Or do I just have to deal with a crappy idle when cold? John feel free to chip in if you offer a chip with a special map so it idles leaner or some thing that would work better.

Can has new vacuum lines (no vacuum leaks to speak of), new cross member with no leaks to speak of in the headers, new throttle body, and virtually every sensor is new.

Thanks,
Ian Carr

The car should start ok without the IAC, but if you're having problems why not put one back in?

meh, i guess my argument has always been to try and keep it simple and remove a lot of the crap that is known for causing problems.

Once the car is warm it runs and idles fine but cold you need to give it a little gas to just keep the rpms up. I am just wondering if these europroducts chips might have some thing to do with it running to rich or to lean at idle.

Idle up a bit and check that the DME engine temp sensor is connected and working. The temp sensor causes the mixture to be rich on cold startup. There is also a temp sensor in the Air Flow meter that should be checked, unless you are using a MAF.

the dme temp sensor is the one toward the front of the block correct? I want to say its on the head by the thermostat houseing..? We had a short in that wiring harness back when we bought the car, I want to say we replaced the sensor but I could be wrong.

Still running the AFM, its refurbished though. I will see if I can check that (which pin is it and what should the voltage be?).

Ian

If you need an ISV, I have one in decent shape. PM me if you want it.

is the ISV the same thing as IAC (idle air control)? I still have my old one, the hoses were leaking so I just took the system out.
