Default Autothority vs Vitesse Chip

My 87 turbo DME has the Autothority chip installed, everything else stock. I assume the KLR has been chipped but have not looked.
The only mods I'm going to do is install a manual boost control and Tial wastegate. I have a Vitesse chip that is a AFM K26/6. If anyone has used both these chips with a similar setup can you please tell me the differences and which one you prefer. Thanks
Charlie

Vitesse all the way. Autothority is about the bottom of the pile.

I have heard everything ranging from "it's crap" to "it's ok" on Autothority.

By comparison, I think the WORST I have ever heard about Vitesse stuff is "it's amazing."

If you already have both chips, why not swap them out and see the difference for yourself?

I know at some point in the future I plan to go with a MAF setup. I will most definitely go Vitesse. Just based on the support he gives alone to his customers on this forum is enough for me to go that route. If I didn't already have Welt chips in my car - Vitesse is the way I would go.

Soon, I will be able to answer this question.

I have Vitesse MAF coming (John has been great working with my travel schedule). It will replace an Autothority MAF system. I had the car dyno'ed with the Autothority. Once I get the Vitesse MAF system on the car I will dyno it. I will have this (hopefully) done around Christmas time.

Without a doubt, Vitesse Racing Products and the service are the best on the market, period. Please see the thread on my old 3.0L 8V. Look at my comments on post # 1, but more so, post # 318.

I don't know that I would expect massive power gains as much as I would improved driveability. Dyno #'s are only part of the equation (and IMO a small part at that.)

I think bottom of the pile is a bit strong, no?

I ran it for a few years and had zero problems and car was good. Maybe not the best out there, but definitely not the bottom.

I have tried Autothrority, Guru, and Vitesse on my old motor, and Vitesse were the best by a country mile. Autothority were ok, but Guru were quite rough, at least in my car.

I have no complaints about Authority, but I have nothing to compare to.

I'm in the same boat, my car seems to run great with the Autothoity chip. If it runs better with the Viteese then that will be that much better. When I install the MBC and Tial I plan on running 13 to 14 lbs boost. I'm just curious if a chip will make much difference with so few mods being done.

One thing I am disappointed with is my MPG. I did a test last week at a constant 75mph and driving for mileage (easy) I got 24mpg. Thought the car would get at least 27 or 28. Maybe the Viteese will help in this area also????

+1 on Vitesse. John is amazing, and completely stands by his products. That right there was enough for me.

John's product is better and beyond that you will get technical help from a real person instead of a sales rep. Vitesse all the way. I am a satisfied customer.

I too can account for Johns amazing customer service. I just received my Vitesse Stage 3 Turbo and Piggyback on Monday. I had some financial issues that I discussed with John up front and he was more then willing to accomdate these issues to allow me to purchase the Turbo. I'll be purchasing V-Flex from him as well as 85# injectors. May also look into getting a Cam from him as well. Will have a full Vitesse car when done (so long as I cam get a damn wasted spark!!).

His products are awesome and he will generally respond to emails within an hour of two, and has even responded to emails in the wee hours of the morning. He called me before he shipped the package to confirm the delivery method and everything. I really can't say enough about him. And as far as having my car tuned, I may see if I can fly John out to do it for me (if you're reading this John, know that I'm serious! )

There are a lot of good vendors out there and I support products from them all. But I do have to pick products from each to make the best possible build.

I did have an authority chipped car (with KLR chip too), and it made 238whp and 248wtq on a stock car (even to the exhaust). Not bad, but the Vitesse chips definitely smoothed the car out and returned a bit better mileage. I was seeing roughly 200-225 miles out of a tank of gas. Granted, this is strictly my fun car and gets driven hard a lot of the time. Still, 13-14 mpg is sad.
