Default "Black Car" is sold...

Thanks to everyone on the 'list for all the kind words and encouragement. The Black Car now has a happy new owner in PA who is a Rennlister. To help set market expectations, he paid very close to my ask and was a motivated buyer. He will be using it for DE and street and tells me he had a great ride home. I am glad that the car has a good home and I made a new friend in the process. Hopefully I'll be back in the market this time next year and I look forward to getting back on the track in 2011. Until then my '90 944 S2 Cab will have to be my Poesche fix... Best to everyone.

Hello all, I'm the new caretaker of the Black Car.

It's replacing my first 951, also an '86, that met its demise on T13 of Thunderbolt in NJ on a very rainy Saturday. Fortunately, I was carrying track insurance. That and a sympathetic appraiser with an appreciation for my low mileage example resulted in a check that's put me back in the saddle right away.

For me, the Black Car represents my ultimate goal for a DE/Street car. It's where I would be taking my original car given more time (and money). In the mean time, I bought back my wreck and am currently tearing it down. The front end is really toast. Both frame rails are badly bent up and there is damage to at least one of the wheel housings. It may have a second life as a dedicated track car some day. Perhaps a roll cage combined with a tubular front end will get it back on the track.

I run with RTR in Pennsylvania. Rick's always welcome to take it for a spin next time he's up this way.

Thanks Chris. I'll be taking you up on that offer someday! BTW, can I still use my avitar for awhile longer though? :-)

Thanks for the welcome.

I do pretty much the entire RTR schedule. Next year will hopefully be the same plus perhaps a NNJ event or two thrown in. A garage-mate is an RTR instructor who often runs with NNJ and we've been trying to coordinate schedules.

Since the car is pretty well known, please feel free to come over and say hello if you see it.

Ski - I agree I believe I met Chris at a Fundraiser autocross in Reading.... good luck with the new car ! It looks very similar to the one I have and it's a blast!

Tom, yes I remember, the Porsches and Planes autocross. That was fun, but I think I'll be sticking with DE. Our cars seem better suited to road courses, and that event cost me set of tires!

Ehall, thanks 'bro. What is the time limit on the usage of my avitar? I am thinking 30 days, or until Chris can post a cool photo of himself behind the wheel. What say ye?
