Is there a way to drop the engine, trans, and torque tube all together?

Re-shell
I recently re-shelled. In this case we carried the old shell off the drive train onto the trailer. It took me and a neighbour and our wives, and pieces of wood.
Putting the driveline back in takes a little more finess.

I dropped the driveline WITH the front crossmember and A arms attached for my re-tubbing exercise.
Its much easier and faster with a lift, but props to Richard and others who have done it without!
Re-tubbing sounds so simple, until you read the first few lines of the project plan:
- Completely dissasemble TWO cars :-))

IMO no, if its only for a clutch job, as removing the motor takes quite a bit of extra effort with electrical harnesses, cooling system etc.
Conversely, I will never take the engine out on its own again. I have done the leave the tranny/TT in place and drop the engine method. For me in a confined garage its very difficult, and will always drop the entire drivetrain in the future. If you have access to lifts and more space then it makes things easier, whichever way you do it.

Great photos. Do you think re-installing a good strut brace like a Weltmeister would be rigid enough to provide limiting steering to maneuver the drivetrain around once the body was off?

the engine will still be on the ground.
like in photo's above, put some rollers underneath the engine, and the transmission.
and remove the front struts and wheels from the A-arms.
if you dont, i'm pretty sure you are going to damnage the ball joints in the A-arms
