Default What do i need to do to get AC updated

As far as I know it is the original ac system the car came with. I've no idea what to buy to make it work as I don't know much about AC systems other then they no longer use the freon our cars came with. I believe the compressor still works and all and it probably just needs to be charged. If that is the case would having someone fill it with the new freon be adequate?

first make sure no leaks

remove the R12
drain the compressor of the old oil (might have to remove it for this)
replace receiver dryer
vacuum out the system with the compressor back in
put R134a fittings on
put new oil in the compressor
charge the system with R134a

My winter work includes a full AC system overhaul with the Kit from 944 online,
http://www.944online.com/cgi-bin/ASI...ntrol-944turbo

and barrier style hoses from these guys..(it is illegal for a tech to fill a system known to have non-barrier style...like the original hoses...) as I don't feel the crim on barb style hose that comes with the 944 online kit will last long term with the pressures R-134 runs at...
http://www.rparts.com/Catalog/Instal...rubber_h&f.asp

and a new evaporator as it is what's leaking on my car... a new expansion valve for good measure... and anything else I can think of...

i have the original hoses still on the car with R134a and have not had any leaks or loss of cooling ability. measured the air coming out of the vents at 28*.

I'm replacing it all as it isn't working, and I want to update / fix it all in one shot...

If it is all new, it should work right?
