Don't replace the oil with ATF - jiust add a quart of ATF to the existing oil and let it run for a while - no heavy load.

I think I'm going to drain the oil and replace it all completely and see if that helps the situation. A bit nervous about the ATF and seafoam..

I wouldn't be so worried about the oil as much as running it through the intake. From what I hear it does a good job on breaking up carbon, and that carbon can score cylinder walls and possibly mess with the turbo.

I don't want to know really.
I have a minor oil pan gasket leak, but didn't think I was losing THAT much oil. That combined with a bit of usage must have sped up the process I guess.

Haha...been there done that. Did a few top of 4th gear passes running a H22 Swapped Civic Hatch and realized a very strong oil smell and quite a bit of smoke. It was when my balance shaft end caps decided to start leaking! I luckily managed to make it home. Last night my car ran, but definitely no odd noises. My oil wasnt even on the dip stick!

Just took it for a spin around town, no more knocking.
I'll remember to keep a closer eye on my oil levels because god knows I'm too lazy to replace the OPG.
