Default Different iterations of Weltmeister chips?

I've heard Weltmeister chips are among those "old" chips, running too rich in the middle and too lean up top.

I've got a set of Welts that say (Copyright) 1998 on them. That doesn't seem real old, at least not late-80s and early-90s generation old. The friend I bought them from has a receipt for install by a reputable local tuner in 1999. I'm having difficulty finding much literature about the Welt chips, so if anyone knows any details about changes (improvements, more specifically) throughout the years it'd be appreciated.

Have you tried contacting Weltmeister directly?

From what we remember, a BMW guy did the Weltmeister Porsche chips for Performance Products. There was only one go around on the mapping and one chip per model. IE. 86-87, 88, 88-89S (probably included to 91 ROW cars.).

Don't feel that they had a rich in the middle like the APE chips did. They were
actually a pretty good AFM chip.

My Welt chips ran very good even on a K26/8, it always passed smog but ran rich when cold. They definitely didn't run lean at full boost as anyone that ever drove behind me with their windows down will attest to. The Vitesse K26/8 AFM chip was much better though. I still loan out that Welt chip on occasion for locals running old Autothority chips to pass smog with.

Yeah--the running rich while cold is something my car exhibits quite strongly vs. stock chips.

Thanks for the info so far. Thanks Mr. Lindsey for your input; I appreciate you taking the time.

The welt chips were written by DINAN Engineering, The TC-8200 is the 24 pin for 86-87, The rev limit was moved to 6800 and over boost is 15.97 lbs. my chip says 1992
I think with the stock boost control setup it was 14.5 lbs boost and it came with a shim for the waist gate. I ran 15 lbs with a MBC and a Tial 38

Good info.

Did your kit come with a 3.0 bar fpr?

No just the shim. The 3.0 bar came with the Turbo S chip

So then what is the overboost setting for the lindsey racing chips, or is that variable?

IIRC, all of the Welt chips are tuned for a 3Bar FPR. Using the 2.5bar, you risk the chance of running lean...
