Default And so it begins... Again... (Re-rebuild pics thread!!)

My birthday present to myself arrived.... Shiny new Link G4 Xtreme from Mr Evil himself I forgot to include the boost solenoid in the pic but oh well. Came with the breakout harness but I also bought wire in connectors so I can use my own wiring loom, which will be redone to go with the new LS2 truck coilpacks and assorted other things... The rebuilt wiring loom will be even better too

And in the last pic is what my brother gave me, a new Garmin 60Cx. My girlfriend and I do a lot of hiking and canoing, so he chose well. Astute observers will note the Max Speed field from when I fired it up on my flight to Denver. Its so sensitive it gets a signal in my basement, in a grocery store under a metal roof, and in a plane.... (Yes im a terrorist, I used a GPS on a plane).

That about sums it up

Also there for size comparison. I could have used something else, but that would have made this XXX rated.... And made any lurking 928 and 911 owners sob.

Way OT but...

Pardon my ignorance, is it truly against the law to use a GPS unit while on a plane?

A lot of people think that itll screw with the airplane systems since it receives a signal... Which is impossible. Most people who see it will flip out.

As to illegal, I dont know.

I don't think a GPS is on the approved electronics list in the magazine in the seatback pocket.

Even if it isnt, its only because its hard to tell from something that might be a transmitter. An actual GPS never has and never will stand a chance of bring a plane down. The day that happens, every plane will fall from the sky.

According to FAR part 92.21 the FAA prohibits electronic devices that could interfere with navigation equipment, but leaves it up to the airline operator to decide what devices fall under that category.

That said, you can't get "arrested" or anything like that... The FAA can't really touch you if you are not a pilot, atc, A&P, etc.

The only reason I know this is because I just had a test in my AV Law class
