1986 951 and 1987 924s - Project for kids we can save
Guys I spend a whole lot of my time mentoring kids on and off the track always around a car build project - always my car build project.
But they now want their own and through many friend's help I found a blown up 951 race car the kids bought for $2500 with their savings
The interior is totally ghetto
no door panels
no seats
no back seats
no seat belts
no side and ceiling panels
no carpet
no center console
etc etc
Anyone wants to help me HELP THEM would be appreciated. They have very limited funds since most these boys come from difficult economic situations.
we can buy some but free is so much better. No need to pay to ship - we will all find the resources to get them here.
Thanks guys for any help you can give

Thank you for the encouragement. I know this RL group of guys are great and will be a valuable resource for these kids. This gets them off the streets. This renews their confidence in themselves and they find that adult men aren't all jerks. I see them angry - withdrawn and quite rebellious
by learning what a ratcheting 19mm wrench is and how to take an engine out of a car - they feel finally they are in control of something. I have been doing this for boys for over 7 years. The one I started with is now graduating in 3 months as a mechanical engineer. Go UH Cougars!
The Lord gave me 2 great daughters and 8 young men to mentor and guide.
I gave literally a storage box full of parts to a kid 18 that now has a spec 944 race car (yep I gave him my old NA too ) he works corners one weekend and drives the next through our work/drive program in Houston's LSRPCA program I am on the board for.
Please guys empty out your stuff on these kids - they will use it. This is a gutted race prepped DE car they need to make into a street/autox car - they are only 14-16 yrs old
here is the car my buddy hauled into our makeshift shop
thanks

the engine is blown with #1 cylinder shot
that's what I know so far
I will be tearing into this engine over the coming months to determine what else went wrong on her

Is there a wish list of parts, or are they only looking to begin the interior overhaul? I don't have many good parts laying about, but what I do have (well, most of it) is theirs for the taking... but I don't have ANY interior bits, my 951 came with a pristene interior, and my N/A isn't that far off... Most of what I have are bits and pieces for 951 engine stuff (and a NIB LR vacuum line kit they are welcome to put to use...)
I also have a used, but serviceable when removed radiator, a hodgepodge of new engine bay hoses and clamps, the LR vacuum line kit, a heater valve (used), a recirc valve (used), and soon will have a stock intercooler they are more than welcome to once it is off the car...
Might I suggest a parts donation / sell off of non-needed parts via E-bay... that way they can get a sense of not only how to wrench, but how to manage parts in, parts out, and sales / $$... make it into a full business model lesson... they can not only learn life lessons, but business lessons as well....
Gimme an address to send bit to as I come across them, and they are theirs for the project...

I will also send a second box a little later, with my stock intercooler, and a few other bits I'm changing out...

How awesome. You are really doing an amazing thing. I grew up without a father and having someone else to look up to is huge for these kids. I wish I could help you out in some way.
EDIT:
I see you need door panels, i've got a set from a 951. They need to be cleaned but they are yours if you want them. Barring that, I would donate what I can if you have a paypal account.

Like the other guys have said, give us an idea of what your looking for. I have alot of old parts and spares still. Also if you need a hand wrenching I'd be more than happy to volunteer some time. Dare I say I'm very experienced with these cars. I have off 4 days at a time and am usually down in Pasadena.

Thanks guy
we just pushed the car in the garage
I know we need everything for the interior
everything is gone
As I tear into the engine I am sure I will be able to add to the list
I suspect the block has damage
but you snd I know that until we do a proper tear down I really won't be able to determine extent of damage

You know, it just occurred to me, you are addicting these kids.... getting them hooked on a drug more powerful than Cocaine or Heroin.. you are addicting them to Porsche, but making them work for it...
Awesome approach BTW... I love it....

How cool! I grew up in a Chevy family where pushing a car past 4k rpm was certain to cause engine damage. So I kind of had to learn the ropes of my 944's on my own. It's been a long few years but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Good to see you're getting kids involved in cars, and Porsches at that. God forbid they be getting involved in Hondas! Lol
It is kind of messed up though. A Turbo Porsche really is an addicting thing to let someone have lol
