Your right actualy the turbo on pats car isnt a garrett gt30r (gt3076r). unless tial have released thier own designation for their own turbos calling it a gt3076r. the tial uses a .50 Ar wheras the true garrett GT 3076r uses a a .60 Ar housing. also the garrett Gt30r uses a 6 blade compressor, whereas tthe tial has a 7 blade compressor wheel
um. Weren't we originally talking about the dinky little turbo in the picture? Definately NOT a GT30R. That thing looks smaller than a gt28!
A GT3076r is Labelled as "mid" size turbo, yet it spools similar to a small frame while giving a damn good top end. Truly an excellent turbo.
Chris, Ill see you a 16v 3.0 and ill raise you to 10:1 compression. E-85 twin scroll. I wonder if Ill see boost off idle? lol.
EDIT: ok.. just talking about 333's (Patrick) turbo.. Got it. 1.5bar. or 23psi.. What power did you see with that psi?

Are you sure its not a Tial Variant of a gt3071? The GT3071 housing looks much like the one in the picture as also uses a .50 A/R. Still, an excellent turbo choice for those not wanting more then 400whp. Which is still a lot.
Compared to the GT30/76R

the file name is gt3076 because that is what i called it after i took the photos. I believe Pat was told it was a 3076, and then he told me. that is why i am thinking whether or not it is a 3076 as its compressor cover and compressor wheel is not from a garrett 3076r.

I'm thinking for a pure street, 2.5ltr 951 the gt3071 would be a nice choice...as I agree with Chris. I want it to spoil as early as possible. If I'm doing 120 mph, I'm either escaping a tornado or a man with a gun!

I'm running a GT3076R on a 2.5L
Stock cam and N/A R&P with a medium tune made 330RWHP at 18PSI - DYNOJET
For the mustang dyno numbers I was told to use a 17% correction to give closer to dynojet numbers
With JME cam and S2 R&P and better tune made 358RWHP at 16PSI - Mustang Dyno 306rwhp, full boost at 4k rpm
Had a boost spike to 20PSI immediately ending the run at 4143rpm made 386.1TQ - Mustang Dyno 325tq

My wife's Audi S4 (old twin turbo type) gets up to 80% of its max torque by 1700 rpm.
With the 9:1 and street gas I will not be running big boost so the 'little' Gt30 should do the job nicely. Hopefully it will be up and runnign in a month or so...
So, you haven't run the gt 30 yet, Which gt30 are you using? Have you run the gt35? Whats your impression of the gt35? What size is the motor and how many valves?

what's you're favorite color? If you were to gain weight, would you just wear tight pants, or give in an admit you're heavier and just buy bigger ones?
lol. inquiring minds want to know

Wow, you guys have been watching too much Oprah....
To tell the truth I am not sure on the exact turbo configuration, I will have to check, I have had the turbo sitting on my shelf for 3 years....
Back when PCA changed the club racing rules the 2.6 liter GT3 class motor was the goal of a lot of builds. When they changed to a displacement to weight system it killed the interest in 2.6 motors…and that was what I was going to use it for.
I have to get two cars out to the track this weekend so I am a little swamped - inquiring minds will have to wait...

I'd buy the larger one's and swap out the sized tags for the smaller one's. The price tag too probably to save a few bucks. Because now that I'm fat I'll be bitter and cheap too. (Clearly larger pants are more money)

So the GT30 is good for roughly how much power? I'm still considering a turbo for about 350-400 (I want to run 400 eventually), but I don't want power to really fall off up top. I don't want peaky either. Meaning that I want to build boost RELATIVELY quickly, close to stock spool as possible, yet, I want the boost to hold. The car will have a variety of uses, from street fun, to autocrossing, to track use. It's mostly a sunny day car and a weekend car. Not a track-dog.

gt3076r I've personaly seen go into high 400's-wheel horsepower. I have yet to actually "see" anyone try to make more, although there are 500+whp claims out there. Gt3076r is an excellent 340-420wheelhp turbo. Very decent spool. definitely not laggy by any account

How would a gt3076r work on a 3.0 16v engine for track use? would it be to small?

Ahhh.. This is the question I have been trying to answer. And it cartainly depends on the rules of the racing class in question. For me.. My power to weight is limited. So I have to stay under 410hp. Definately a GT30 more maximum spool and a hp ceiling. For Someone looking for the 500hp mark.. I Certainly say the GT35.
