Default 968 oil pan/tray better than a 951S pan/tray?

Any info out there that 968 pans provide better oil pick-up and/or windage behavior?

Is there any issue with it bolting up to a 951 block?

I thought I read that somewhere but when I briefly compared a late 951 pan and a 968 pan I couldn't see any difference. But my garage looks like a dump site so who really knows what I compared

The front section of the 968 pan has more of a close fit pseudo scraper than the 951 pan (only a close fit to 3.0 cranks!)

Check out IJ scrapers for some pics and info - http://www.crank-scrapers.com/Porsche.html

968 pan, late 951, and 944s pan all seem to be the same with the exception of the baffle. I have all 3 now and I can't differentiate.

I have used the scraper (vs the windage tray) - much easier to install and its definatly better than nothing!

Somewhere in mid '93 Porsche started blocking off the threaded hole in the 968 pan on the drivers side. So only early 968 pans work on turbo cars for the return oil line. They are essentially the same as a S2 pan though the baffles are designed for the 3.0 counterweights
