Default Click Klack sound.. CV joints?

when i pulled from a stop sign today i heard a few clanking sounds in 1st gear as i pulled away and went into 2nd the sound was gone. I don't hear anything at idle. Is this because my CV joints in the rear need to be repaired?

I had a loud clicking when on the throttle. It would be gone if not on the throttle. It was my cv joint. I ended up getting a new axle from paragon

Yup! Welcome to my car, 6 months ago. Fast forward to two months ago... Hello flatbed! Found out mine was the inside driver's CV:

also i hope it has nothing to do with the transmission.. what does a transmission problem sound like? like a rattle right? or your not able to shift. i can shift ok no problem, clutch seems fine too. If it's just the axel cv then that sounds a lot cheaper to fix.

You don't need to order a whole axle. They sell kits with new CV/boot/grease/etc... for ~$115 @ Paragon.

I almost thought mine was a trans problem until I got a new axle. Now the shifts are much smoother and quieter

This is all you need. It's what I bought.

Looked just like the factory unit and works great.

Wouldn't you need to check if the inside if the cv isn't damaged? If it is, it's probably not rebuildable.

Would it be better to just buy the whole axel then?

I called NAPA Canada and they don't have an axel in stock. They were able to get a new one for $184 CDN which is surprisingly cheap compared to some other places which have the brand name "GKN LOEBRO" I've seen them go for up to $400+ (europarts etc) here in Canada but average around $300 - $380 for the complete axel with or without the (12) CV bolts) (bimmerspecialist.com / autopartsonlinecanada.com.

If you go to 944online, they have a new aftermarket axel for $139.95 USD

I'm wondering if the aftermarket axel from 944online is the same one that NAPA quoted me.
Lot's of options. Importing to Canada always cost me at least $60 just on the duty. I just wish it didn't break...

Hum, I might have been wrong, I thought the kit only included the bearings and carriers but it also includes the whole assembly.

$159 CDN isn't too bad !! No idea if it's any good
