Default stock shocks removal question

hi guys,

I have a question regarding the rear shocks removal,
i remove the front suspension very easily, but i had a question regarding the rear

at the bottom of the rear shock, i remove the bolt,
but my question is about the top bolt,
how do you get access to this bolt?

is it possible that its like inside the finder, on top of the brake?

also, how it is to remove torsions bars,
going with coilovers and want to remove them

also #2, can i put on my new 968 rear swaybar before installing my new shocks?
the thing is, I have my swaybar but not my shocks yet... still waiting on Lorax lol

thx for the help

Rear shock bolts are easy, make sure you take the wheels off, the nut head is in the fender well behind the wheel, the bolt is on the inside.

Torsion bars are more difficult to remove, Ièll let someone who has done that a few more times than me walk you through it.

Major undertaking as far as I can see... and a contributing reason to my decision to use a MO30 set up on my upcoming suspension upgrade - hopefully no change to the T-bars...

Seb, it might be easier for you with the car in its current state...

I will most likely be looking into helper springs myself. Not looking to change much on the rear suspension. Luckily I live just over a mile from a 944 specialist, so I could probably get quality help on re-indexing the TB's and lower the rear a little, when I got to drop the front.

The problem here is that if you just add more spring without indexing the torsion bars the ride height won't be where you want it. (unless you like stock ride height or higher). You can adjust the spring plate but that's most likely not going to be enough. So either way, whether you run torsion bars or not, if you're adding some sort of spring into the equation, you're going to have to mess around with the torsion bars. Easier to pull them and forget them. Otherwise you run the risk of reindexing them to run with coilovers and doing it incorrectly, then you get to do it again. Practice makes perfect here.

I will always delete the T-Bars before anything else. This way you can adjust the ride height with ease, cut off an extra rear mount from the tube that is no longer needed (bit of weight and less confusion, I suppose), and most importantly, never have to pull the housing out again.

There is more then enough information in the search to keep you reading for hours on this subject. Between the differences in deleting and keeping torsion bars, the lower rear shock mount, what's involved with doing the job, replacing bushings, etc. Your best information will be found in the search. Good luck.
