I need to find your carbon tube guy. I've toyed with idea of making some intercooer connect tubes to replace the stk. alum ones out of carbon cloth/epoxy. Was going to do a pattern and vac bag and cook since that is what we do here. Figured catch a free ride in the big oven since some of the epoxys used are same temp range as used for laminating cycles. Or, small parts just use our test oven but again; time. Been cruzing the Decomp and Groves Aircraft suppy sites but just short on time for "me" projects. Keep up the work, stuff looks very nice.

The 3 diff pieces will be using 3 different types of carbon fiber. Shift rod is the cheapest/easiest - pultruded (Which is now going to be a sandwiched weave for torsional strength) , Torque tube being a sock wound specific for torque or "twisting" loads, and the upper intake piece will be traditional woven type, strictly for its lack of heat absorption and bling factor.

Naw. It will be permanently epoxied. To be able to break it down sounds cool, but that would most likely leave some play.

Its nice to see something fun and different. Looks very nicely put together. I am also looking forward to the intake manifold.

I could make a carbon Strut brace, but then I would be getting into a parts vendor sort of status. I want to stay away from that. I have truly no time for that actually.
That said.. Anything I make will most likely see very little interest since the Costs will be high and the need for my extreme parts will be.. extremely small. This shift rod for example would be around $300.. I doubt anyone would want to pay that just to save 2 pounds.

I would only do a run of parts if none of the Vendors are offended.
The intake will probably cost me around $2000 to make.. Cost To put it together is ridiculous Sooooooo yeah.. VERY small audience. Like what, 5 of you have that sort of a budget on these old cars , and only 1 or 2 would think about buying it. (Because it's for a 16v 3 liter no less!) It's really just an art piece at that point. LOL- or an expensive pile of junk if it makes less power.

What's the point in it being carbon fiber if nobody will ever see it?

I'm sure you're Being funn, but just in case...For the HUGE weight savings of 2 lbs!
But yeah, it is a damn good looking piece that won't be seen. Same with the Torque tube.
