I once had a car towed because of this (most municipalities have a code that says if a car parked on the street and it hasn't moved in X days, they can tow). Initially I thought my car was stolen...

easiest thing to do to immobilize the car is just pull the wire from the coil to the distributor..

its not going anywhere unless they have a tow truck

Either by itself will be sufficient. DME relay would probably be the better choice tho because of the unlikeliness of the thief having one or even knowing to look there.

Yes but at least it isn't as easy as reconnecting to coil to the distributor. Do you completely remove the wire?

i have before when parking in majorly sketchy places.

that was before i had a plastic cover on my coil though lol

if you really want to get adventurous, maybe cut the wire that goes to the coil and splice in a section that can be removed easily. then its just two wire connectors and youre off.

We're the only ones who want them

My favorite just requires slim jim and wire cutters or *take off, pull-rip, twist to get into the car and bypass alarm, minus the time it takes to slim it open it's only seconds to bypass factory alarm, then all the other stuff i dunno about hot wiring and all that.

Two other favorites, Most 90s car you just need a screw driver and bang down on the lock as well as when the first gen mazda 3's just came out amazingly you just needed to dent in the space right next to the door handle.

AND when people were popping out volvo engines with the safety feature bumper engine release, people went around with sludge hammers nocking out engines.

"As far as safety goes, in 1978 the 240 was named America's safest car by the Automobile Safety Institute and became their model for vehicle crash safety. In fact, NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON died in a Volvo 240 between 1978 and 1983 in the U.S.! Volvo incorporated front and rear crumple zones, side impact beams, a drop-down engine design, and reinforced roofs in all 240 models. These statistics are available online at vehicle safety websites"

In a front accident wouldn't you want to get the engine out of the way so that it doesn't come crashing through the firewall into the passenger compartment? Once the engine is out of the way, the crumple zones can do their job absorbing the energy of the collision by crumpling metal and dissapating heat. An engine will not compress and will transfer the energy to the passenger compartment.

I am not an automotive engineer, but this would be my guess.

I think a 951 would be stolen by someone ready to part it out. Taking out the DME relay probably won't stop someone who knows how to part it out, but it might slow them down a little.

Full insurance is awesome, I wish I could afford it. What I do is use a club, religiously, and I know that can be overcome too, but any of these types of measures helps.

I hope that guy's car was just towed.
