Drifting
The engine passed the 5000km mark this morning on the Autobahn.
I raised the boost from 15 to 16psi, the gearbox seems to stand the power pretty well.
The gearing with the 951 5 speed gearbox is fine, the problem is just that there should be a 6th gear on top of it, as the revs climb pretty quickly in 5th gear and it's frustrating to stop at 280kph or about on the speedo as there isn't an extra gear to allow you to clock another 20 or 30kph.
The gearbox I am looking for has about the same first five gears as the 951 trans but has a 6th gear that would theoretically allow for clocking 330kph at 6500rpm. That would be nice as my engine feels like it will bring me up there without any effort.

There are gears for taller 5th and 6th gearing for the 968 box. Porsche made these for the 968 Turbo. I forget who sells these in the US, but I know they are available. Don't know the sizes though.
I'm running the 968 box in my car, and we just added a cooler with an inline pump that is thermostat regulated.

Yes, the 5th and 6th gear sets of the 968TS can help a bit, but without the tall R&P specific to the 968TS they are not worth considering as the gain would be minimal.
Given the info I have gathered so far it seems I will be leaning towards a 968 gearbox with upper gears from the VAG parts bin.

Been working on a solution for the gearbox at the moment, putting it on the dyno is at the bottom of the agenda.
FWIW the only dyno near me saw a K26/6 951 put down 292bhp so I doubt I will be spending any money there to get a comparatively impossible figure, and they don't even provide the torque curve.

I need a sixth gear.

Well that's great for you Olli, but that doesn't float my boat.
I don't value the 968 TRS gearbox higher than the 968 NA gearbox as I believe they share the same R&P.
By the way, looking forward to seeing a thread on your 3.0 build

You need to find trans type 083 F ASW. Type ASV is the same, but without LSD. All Swiss versions did have oil cooler. ASV version is rather easy to find, ASW is a little bit harder. Of course LSD from your 951 trans (if you have one) can be installed quite easily to ASV type trans.

It'd be easier to find a ASW box than add my 951 LSD to an ASV unit.

I think having the short first 4 gears, then a longer top gear would be too much of a step up between
4th and 5th. I'm going to go back to stock 951 gearing for my 3L build I think.
