Default Six Speed Speedo Wiring?

Hi guys,

Jet951 is looking for the scematic on how he wired up a 968 six speed using the 968abs and the blue abs relay. I have all the parts and we are ready to get this setup correctly. We would just like to get it done NOW.

I appreciate JET951's help, and was wondering if anyone has done this and has wiring instructions. If JET951 finds his, that would also be great.

Appreciate all help.

George

I think Lindsey sells a cheap kit to do this.

I do understand wanting to DIY though since you have the parts.

I started with ABS setup in my car and the speedo was unusable. The LR kit is great but it requires some fabrication for a bracket. Since my mechanic did the 6-speed conversion and the retrofit of the LR components, I don't have any technical input.

It is an interesting upgrade. Steet driving is definately improved but I am less please at WOT. In my view, the gears are too close for cars above 350 RWHP.

You need the 968 wiring diagram, that is what JET951 used. The schematic uses the 968 parts and the 968 wiring. That's how mine is done works perfect.

George, if you are moving to a 6 speed, please let us know how it feels with your motor. Sorry can't help on the wiring question...

George, maybe try the 968 forum or the non Rennlist 968 forum. I'm sure Bob over there would know where to find these diagrams.

He already moved to it. And it feels awesome. Before the motor was torn into again, the ratios were much better-suited than the 5-speed.

I assume it'll be quite similar once the car's done (again). Only much, much better.

Here is how to hook up the 944 turbo with a 968 6 speed box.
you must buy 2 items,
968 ABS blue relay, part number 964 618 220 00
968 ABS control Unit, Part number 928 618 118 00

the 944 turbo ABS control unit, Part Number 928 618 119 05 does not have a speedo output. so it cannot be used

Here is a diagram i made up

Sean, the drawing shows a pin #9 on the Blue Frequency converter module. However, there is no #9 pin, but a #6 pin on the module. Could you confirm?

Based on a old document I have, it shows that #7 is GND and #2 is Power. Does this match your findings.

I lost the frequency module about 5 years ago, just found it with the instructions. Just in time to install.

OT. John, Sean should see this soon enough. He's just been over at my place helping me out with the PB. We got it working for tomorrow's trackday.
I'm sure he'll check in before bedtime.

I have just done a 6 speed conversion on a non ABS 944, does this solution require ABS hubs for speed reference? or can I just jet the ABS control unit and relay?
