Default What would you pay?

Looking for some honest input - I have a 1989 951 with 30,200 original miles. The car is in absolute mint condition and needs nothing. It has some modest performance upgrades, but all parts are available to take it back to stock. What should I be asking for it?
I'm starting to build a new house and although I'm not in need of the extra cash, it would be nice to have.
Thanks.

Swap in a new coolant tank, make sure it is up to date on routine maintenance items (low mileage usually brings more money, but only if it is ready to go...a car needing work is still a car needing work..)

Turn key, ready to drive I see no reason it shouldn't bring over 12.5, but today's economy kills toy sales...

I've put $6K into recently; everything from motor mounts, gaskets, belts, hoses, water pump, a/c....can't say I did a coolant tank but this car is 100% complete. Hearing that it is only worth mid teens is disturbing - is that really all it's worth??

There were 2 in my area that recently went for north of 12k and were **** cars...well not ****, but not anywhere near the condition of yours. So maybe location has something to do with it.

Hell a 924 went for 5.5k 10 miles from where I live!! And it looked pretty rough.

We are surrounded by 3 million people and 7 major military bases (Hampton Roads/Tidewater area in Va.), so maybe that has something to do with it (Norfolk, Va beach, Newport News, Chesapeake, Hampton, Williamsburg...bla, blah).

It is a shame that the market has gotten this bad. Good Luck with the sale, though, and if I can be any help listing it here for you just let me know.

With 30k miles and absolute mint condition for an '89, I'd say it's worth $20k. Maybe you can find someone that would pay $15k. If it were me, I'd just hang on to it for a while; you might not be able to get a nice original one like that again.

To the OP, see his coolant tank in his AVATAR... really only flaw I could spot

there was a recent stunning example of a flawless perfectly modded car on e-bay not meet reserve at 18,8..

This market is crap...hence my initial 12,5 mark..might bring 15..20 you would have to be prepared to have a lot of tire kickers lowballing you and making you hate having the car for sale... should bring north of $20K in a normal market, but the market is anything but normal... good luck

what color and options? (LSD, sport seats, etc, etc)

From avatar is appears a not particularly desirable maroonish color.......
Most people willing and able to pony up the cash for an ultra low mile 951 have a specific wish list (color & options).

The original tanks werent white, but I do agree it does brighten up under the hood. I wouldnt toss the original if you have all the other original parts.

I think its a 20k car and you could prob get 15-16k for it if you found the right buyer but it might take some time.

Start at 20 and expect 15. Like the guys have said, now is not the time to be trying to sell a car without taking a hit. Everyone out there is looking for a deal right now, and aren't going to pay top dollar. The used parts market is the same right now, you can't give away parts. I don't see it turning around for at least a couple of years either.

True. Although if you are a buyer there are some great buys on little stuff that you might need in the future. Even 911 parts are coming down.

PS... and careful buyers are getting good deals... the lcoal toyota dealer was super-busy last weekend. I talked with one couple that drove over from KC because STL had a better selection of used. Then the truck they wanted sold before they got here, they still bought one though but had to "schedule" the meet with the financial guy till late in the afternoon. They claimed that if they wait for confidence to come back, prices may shoot up with inflation.
