Thumbs up Made it through Surgery

Hello all. I just wanted to thank everyone who bought stuff from me over the past months. Everything purchased shipped Friday via UPS or USPS Priority.

My surgery went well, but the spine was in worse condition than we thought. Also, Being a large guy, the thick muscles in my back made for a more invasive surgery to get to the spine. The Fusion at L5-S1 went well, and I can already tell that a lot of the Nerve pain in my leg is gone.

I had a long night. I was in recovery for 3 hours with them trying to get the pain under control with Morphine and Valium. I was sent to my room after that. I was put on a Pain pump of Dolotin, and assumed that it was a continuous flow with a button to push if I needed more. I did not sleep at all and was in severe pain. I told the Nurse that I did not feel the pain pump was working, she had me press the button and it worked, I just did not ask the right question about how it worked. This AM around 10, another nurse came in and I was explaining my issue and trough the conversation we figured out the failure in communication. I am now off the pain pump, on oral pain meds, Oxycontin every 12 hours with Oxycodone every 3-4 and Valium every 8 for the muscle spasms. I have been up and walked around a few times. I have a long road ahead of me for the fusion to take and the Muscles to heal. After hearing what the Dr. found, I would have never got any relief in the condition i was in, and now i can have a much higher quality of life and be active with my son as he grows. Thanks again for every one's well wishes and prayers.

Jonathan

Baby is doing wonderful. I can't even begin to explain my feeling about being a dad. I miss him so much, Lisa brought him by the Hospital last night, and I was able to hold him for a few minutes. Really makes all of this worth while.
BTW Max, When I was in BTR in late Feb is when i injured my back this time. Hope to be able to travel again in the late fall and we can catch up.

David, It feels like someone crammed a V8 in my back.

Sorry, I just could not get to them. It will still be a few months before I'll be able to do much.

Thanks for the offer, but right now there is nothing to do. A few of my buddies from the shop are going to come over and put my engine back in the car in the next few months. It was scheduled for today, but obviously got pushed out.

Glad to hear it. You'll recover from the recovery pain soon enough. I know it sux right now, but compare that to all of the time that you were suffering nerve pain. Recovery is a piece of cake. Give it a week. It should be MUCH better.
Then you can slowly start to get used to the "new" back.
Email me if you need anything.
Best
