What turbo to fit my needs?

Most of the bigger aftermarket turbo's have over-sized inlets, meaning you have to modify or replace the stock J-boot to use them. The MAF kits solve this problem because they come with their own j-boots, couplers, etc. If you are looking for economical upgrades (i.e., not changing out the AFM, injectors, etc.), then a good k26/8 or "cheater" version thereof with performance S chips from VR would get you more power without breaking the bank and adding tons of supporting parts. On the other hand, if you ultimately want lots of power, VR's kit gets my vote.

if you go with lindsey racing, if you have any of the parts that are on the list to make a certain power like the 340 hp kit, they will lower the cost since you have a part.

I have 2g to spend right now but i can come up with more its just a matter of time. And yes my car has LSD. Im really liking the sound of this 60-1 though. What other supporting mods would i need for say 300whp with that turbo? The only other mods i have are 3bar fuel pressure regulator and i have a electronic boost controller with a vitesse chip.

Have the PowerHaus K27DR (not sure if it's a /6 or /8) and I see 1 bar by 3200 rpm. I suspect I have a small intake leak or two (small exhaust leak too) so I think that can be improved. I suspect I'm somewhere ~300rwhp @ 15psi also. It breaks the 245 Dunlop SP9000's loose in 1st gear if I stomp on it (2nd too if I'm @18psi). It does this with the AFM or with the MAF installed. The MAF (Vitesse) makes it much more driveable at lower rpm's & around town - very nice improvement over the AFM.
If you have a Vitesse chip for AFM, I'm betting you have a very nice tune right now, and the way John writes the software you can probably just upgrade the turbo a bit without changing/upgrading. I don't think John recommends his stage 2/3 with the AFM setup. If you don't have a 3" exhaust yet I'd recommend getting that too, as stock/2.5" is definitely a limiting factor (just going from stockish exhaust to 3" made the difference in the tires breaking loose). Just someting to think about... You might take care of the turbo since you have to at present and also get the exhaust, then save up for the MAF kit.
I have a Vitesse stage 2 on the shelf waiting to go on, but am content enough with the K27 to leave it there for now and take care of other things on the car first(need to find the vacuum/exhaust leaks, fix a bonehead oil leak or two, and start suspension/brakes). That being said, if this is what the K27 can do, I can hardly wait to get that Vitesse turbo on there..... .

My K-27 would kill the nitto drag radials, I ran it with the Guru MAP kit for awhile and I actually got it to work really well, in fact I still have the setup somewhere put away. I went to the Vitesse after I made my headers, 2.5" crossover pipe and TRUE 3" downpipe for my 60-1. It's a straight T3 meaning I have a T3 exh inlet and V-band out. I think you'll love a 27/6 really well. I sent a 27 from diesel motor and my blown 26 to michigan turbo and had it back in 48 hours. He put the 27 cold side on my 6 hotside with a new not re-man center section for 600. Granted that was a few years ago, someone on here ended up with it can't remeber who.

ok so K27 and 60-1's are what i need to look for now then right? If anyone has any used parts they want to sell let me know. Also where are some good places to look for this stuff? I'll have to email powerhaus to get a price quote on a K27. Who sells the 60-1?

I'd say that you'd be foolish to go anywhere else.
There are some other vendors that have HP kits, and they are also good.
Whatever you do, make sure the engine is solid and then go with a complete solution from a single vendor.
I prefer Vitesse, but Lindsey and Speed Force Racing are also solid choices.
951's that have problems are generally put together piece meal. I'm not saying always. We have some really sharp folks around this board, but quite often.

Vitesse, Vitesse, Vitesse! I've got his St. 3 kit, and it's splendid. Yes, you will pay a bit more than perhaps some other manufacturers, but it is well worth it.
Highly recommended.
Now, if you're simply wanting to keep the car stock, I have a K26/6 in great condition that I need to get rid of.

What ehall said, one of the big three and get the whole set up from one vendor. They have gone through alot trouble setting up their packages. Give any of them a call and they will tell you what you need to get started for your price range. But you definitely want to make sure your engine is solid.

After those few things, you are golden.
Ya CAN'T just get a different turbo!
