Default Adjusting brake pedal travel

Are there any known issues with adjusting the brake pedal travel via the piston adjusting rod that goes from the pedal arm to the master? I have never had to do this before, but my brakes are all new including the fluid, pedal is hard and the brakes work perfectly, it just travels down too far before they start to grab.

Could there be another issue? I don't want to damage the master by forcing the rod to far.

It sounds to me like you have some other issue going on...

Especially if this is a new condition.

It's not a new condition. The pedal has been this was since I bought the car a few years ago.

Do you have the factory service manual PDF? On my copy, page 84 of the Chassis book (section 46-5), there are instructions for adjusting that push rod.

It says there should be about 10mm of pedal travel free-play.

i had to adjust my pedal when I first got the car as the brake was so high I could not H&T. On the back of the brake rod there is a nut, untighten the nut which then allows you to rotate the rod which lowers the pedal. Be careful not to go to far or the seals catch against the cylinder bore

Van, Thanks for the info. I don't have a manual, so that's very helpful. THANKS!

Dan, That's my problem - H&T. My pedal is actually a little to low. I need to move it the opposite way. Sounds like it's a simple adjustment. I just wanted to be sure not to cause damage to the master. Thanks for the help!
