Default 951-capable datalogger? VAG-COM?

As I'm new to the 951 world, I'm probably asking some dumb questions... here goes another one:

Is there something similar to a VAG-COM (VW/Audi computer tool) for the 951s, so I can monitor engine parameters? (Read all the sensors, view injector duty cycle, etc.)

I've got a VAG-COM for my other two cars ('03 VW GTI and '07 Audi A4) and if I'm going to start tinkering with this 951, I figure it'd be handy to have something similar.

VAG-COM sounds like a military department dealing with sailors just getting shore leave in the Philippines.

Duh. Shame on me for assuming everyone here is a transplant from the VW/Audi community

http://www.ross-tech.com/

Software that runs on a laptop that gets you access into all the different control boxes on pretty much any Audi or VW. According to my buddy Dave (VW tech @ a local VW dealer), you can actually do MORE with the VAG-COM than you can with the factory VW/Audi computer.

Nope, 951s are pre ODBI/II so there isnt anything. There is the Vitesse Racing Motronic Monitor, but its expensive and I dont think he actively sells it.

John no longer sells it but there was some chatter about something similar in the future. Near future or far future remains unknown.....

WOW expensive is right. $790.

It's exactly what I was looking for... but not at that price.

Although if you put a piggyback on it, that gives you some monitoring/datalogging.

I have both the MkIV and MKV-capable VAG-COMs... one for the VW MkIV and the other for the Audi MKV...

I know exactly what you mean. -Once you have a VAG-COM, if you're even SLIGHTLY inclined towards understanding things a-goin' on under the hood, you start wanting one for EVERY car that you own!!!

But nothing for the 951, sadly.

If anyone were to do something at a comparable price to the Ross-tech VAG-COM, I think you could safely bet that EVERYONE here on Rennlist would have one!

But they are so freakin' cool, though!

Get your head out of the gutter, it sounds more like a yeast infection treatment to me.

Yeah I'm spoiled with the VAG-COM, it's SUPER handy. If I actually got into heavy mods and tuning on my VW or Audi, I can imagine it would be a dream! I used to write engine control software for Navistar (did a lot of work on the 6.0L Powerstroke back in the late '90s/early '00s) so I'm used to seeing things in data form

Dude! Flip the tranny, add a torque tube and you're in business with that S4 lump.

Hmmmm. The long awaited Porsche 944 S4. Surely there's a warehouse in Ingolstadt with leftover body-in-white shells just stacked to the gunwhales.
