Default WOT, lose spark @ 4.5k rpms

Any ideas? I can back off the throttle about a quarter of an inch or so and everythings fine but if I floor it, I lose spark. It drives fine otherwise. She's all stock so I'm sure there's plenty of areas for me to look at.

My thoughts are the WG or BPV. I do have an exhaust leak that I havent located...can that do it?

Thanks once again.

Bad plugs... don't use platinum plugs, use Bosch WR7DC

Too cold a heat range on the plugs can also cause this.

On the dyno I saw a nice difference between Bosch and NGK

Go for NGK BPR7ES and pinch the tips with needle nose at the centre of the tip so they don't come loose

I'm running a step colder but generally most who use NGK on 951 use BPR7ES.

It does sound like classic signs of a weak ignition -- check plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

It sounds like a ignition related problem. Check/replace if needed coil, plug wires, cap, rotor.

Use the Bosch WR6DC plugs (one heat range colder than stock WR7DC).

Could it be an issue with the alternator?

Just off the phone with my local parts store and they dont carry Bosch WR6DC/WR7DC and they dont carry NGK BPR7ES. They have some platinum NGK's or NGK 7131 but thats it.

BR7ES vs BPR7ES = same difference performance wise

P=Projected Insulator Type= to stop any electrical interference from being emitted, engine wise no effect

Thanks jasonlp for the clarification. I bet I can find those around.

So why does this happen with the iridium ngk plugs I have now?

Yes sound like you have a bad distributor cap that has unseeable cracks in it which cause this issue and the reference sensors could be adjusted alittle too much out (gap too big) and it looses the reading at higher rpm's
