Hi: I'm confused about the initial write up. For a stock 2.5" catalytic converter, are you able to reuse the back half of the flange? If so, how do you join the 2.5" muffler half of the flange to the new three inch pipe.

If you cut the pipe leading to the muffler 2" from the back half of the flange, could that stub be expanded to become a male adapter to the three inch pipe?

just weld on a 3'' > 2.5'' reducer then weld the original piece of piping that contains the hanger and flange.

or you can use 2.5'' piping all the way instead of 3''.
