The article says they were considering the VW/Audi turbo 4, but were also considering developing an all-new flat 4.

A flat four would be a home run IMO. But the prospect to share technology with VW(the entire reason Porsche wants VW) has got to weigh heavy on the execs.

I would like to see a true lightweight stripper call it a Speedster(sound familiar) have it be based on a Boxter with S running gear and a stripped interior and a turbo 4 with PDK. Now that would be a tuners dream. Even delete the soft top and sell it with a optional hardtop.
