I would go with the GT30r Capable of over 400 hp and quicker spool.

I don't have any input on the maxtune. However, my car has been "tuned using a similiar setup and it works great.

Be careful using the AFM with a large turbo at high boost b/c it will wear on the thrust bearing of the turbo (sucking through a straw comes to mind)

If you really want more info on the first one just contact Vic at Pauer Tuning since he is the seller. That's where I bought my Garrett.

BTW: that second turbo for $500 sold on Ebay for $550. I wanted it bad but I was too slow...

I know exactly what you mean. I think since the car has chips programed for the k26 I'll just find one off rennlist thats good and save my money for my 3.0 project

I talked to him about for about an hour on the phone today talking about my 3.0 and his new stand alone and dual ball bearing turbo kit that he will come with. It will have electronic boost control, traction control, and auto tune that you can set a specific afr and it will self tune, which is new in the stand alones. I will be purchasing it along with the garret gt 35 dbb turbo for my 3.0. Just can't wait for that.

That description of the Self tune sounds like the LINK G4 but I wouldn't put this in the 'budget' end of the spectrum.
I was going to say if you're just getting something together while building your 3L, just go for a K26/8 or a K27/8 which you should be able to pick up easy and cheap....but then again, knowing how long it seems to take for these 3L to get built, perhaps you may want something a little more modern. Isn't there someone selling a GT30 with a killer mount and chips?
Here you go. Wonder how much they want for that setup?

Gt30 is from all accounts the ultimate turbo for today's 2.5 and tomorrows 3.0.

I already picked up a k26-6 for my 2.5 today and will be changing it tomorrow. I just figured that I shouldn't be dumping that much into this car while I'm building my other one. Thanks!
