Antilag + or - ??
What are the feelings re Anti-lag? Seems to be something common to Rallying but not so common for circuit work. Can't see why not really but I understand that it shortens the lifespan of the turbo.
I tried this in the Racer Forum but most of those guys are n/a 911 cars.

I just bought the MSD6al2 for mine to use the 2 step. After riding in Josh's car and seeing the boost gauge only drop 1 psi on shift and the full boost takoff I had to have it..
IMO it completely transforms the car and if used correctly should not be detrimental ..at least I don't think so.

You can get a version that has a built in timing retard as well (I think it is the "plus") but you would need to trigger it when only at higher rpms. ie; not stopped at a light with clutch in

Lindsey Racing sells a MSD 6AL ignition. Is this the same thing? Sure looks like it.http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Pors...-MSD-6400.html How hard is it to install? Does it just take the place of the coil? I was thinking about buying the 6AL from Lindsey and getting someone to install it as a temp to wated spark.

it doesn't take tjhe place of the coil it is just an add on

this one is different in that it has the 2 step rev limiter built in. You just get a different clutch switch to activate it. Josh installed his in about an hour at a relaxed pace.
It makes a difference since you can take off at full boost and that there is no time needed between shifts to recover boost when using flat foot shifting technique.

So Sid, Josh, or others, at a rough guess do you think this could save you say 0.1 sec per average corner? Would it require traction control to work with it otherwise risk spinning wheels also?
I don't quite get this concept. Seems to me that it and flat shifting would put strain on engine and driveline components? If the clutch doesn't wear prematurely I wonder about CVs, axles, tranny etc but I don't think I'm grasping the concept properly.
What's the bottom line as I'm in a position to get it added into my setup. I wasn't going to bother but I'm intrigued now.

So what's the downside Rod? I've heard it can 'wear' your turbo out prematurely. Isn't it switch activated so that you could just use it at the track and for our short events this shouldn't place too much of a strain on things?

I assume flat footing on a shift is only for the upshift... not the downshift.
I don't think you'll see much of a gain at the track - you're already at red-line when you shift, and a quick shift would hardly interrupt the exhaust gas flow.
As for coming out of corners, it sometimes would be nice to have boost sooner - but if you're modulating the throttle to balance or rotate the car the, you're going to lose your spool-up.
Just thinking out-loud here... maybe with some fancy left foot braking in a turn you could keep your right foot on the gas to keep the boost up... but that far exceeds my skill level!

Yes you could be right Van. I'm not sure as I have no experience with any of it.
I think it would all be some sort of combination with Traction Control also so you can still modulate as you describe.

+1 with Van. I think if your doing tack work, it could be very tricky. There are some corners your waiting for the boost and some you don't want full boost.. I suppose traction control can help but I feel thats a tricky balance.

Not nice on the turbo - and, as already pointed out, if you left foot brake on the track you are in good shape already.
With this type antilag and 'speed shifting' expect a lot more clutch wear and toasted driveline parts...
