Default Alternator/wiring woes - pics!

Hi all,

I recently had a short in a wire from my alarm box which caused a wire to literally glow red like an element in an electric fire! Luckily the car didn't catch fire and all was saved... Now my problem is that my alternator light on the dash is on and its not charging...last weekend I had some mechanic friends take a look at the problem for me and they traced back the wires and renewed the burnt one and all looks well in that dept. I restarted my car and the alt warning light still stays on ( as does the handbrake light and main idiot light ). They since have taken the alternator out of the car and I will be getting it checked out today or tomorrow....electrics are such a pain the ***

They didn't seriously unwrap that harness while it was in the car, did they? If they were that far along, it would have been easier just to pull out the harness and troubleshoot it on the bench. But since it's apart, have them replace the 4 wires that go to the radiator fan ballast resistors - they're probably not in the best of shape. Make sure they use the proper wiring harness wrap too - not just electrical tape.

I've been down this path myself, but I did all the work.

Alright, just rip it all out and make it a race car. I don't need no stinking wires!
