Default extra port on the master cylinder..what is it for??

On my 87 there is an extra threaded hole on the master cylinder. My 86 doesn't have this and the PO of the 87 was using it for a datalogger sensor.

I'm pretty sure I can plug it but thought I'd check.

if so what is the thread??

You could ask.... it is Troppo's old setup.

I'm not sure, but probably pressure and braking points.

I just need to know what the extra port is for stock.

Does anyone have a pic of a late master cylinder (car with ABS)??

IIRC it's for ABS.

You can plug it with no issues.

Hydraulic handbrake input??
spot for rear lock out solenoid for burnouts ???

Logging brake pressure would be nice but it has to be mapped against an accelerometer and perhaps even other chassis data .
and good solid state pressure transducers are ultra expensive

So for track datalogging what do they normally tap to give braking readouts? Perhaps they don't need actual pressure, but just when it's being activated?

It had a pretty pricey pressure sensor tapped into this port.

Does anyone have an 87 or even just an ABS car that they can look at??

I'll look at my car tomorrow...but I would place a bet with Ben and say it's for ABS.

That's what I was thinking, but the main line goes to the ABS box and then splits up.

There doesn't seem to be another line or anything for it to go to?????

Bump for an old thread. I have this 3rd port on my mc (89 turbo w/abs). it has a bleeder nipple screwed in. wouldnt that allow air into the system?
