What matthew951 said is correct. I owned a tint shop for 7 years in the 90's. Cost of quality film and material would be about $50 for a 944. Add some labor, shop cost, and inflation to this and see what you come up with. I would guess $300 for a quality job is a reasonable price. The hatch is a pain. The borders suck and it has a compound curve.
The curve is the big issue. I tried to get mine done once. I had the appointment set up after they took a look at the car but when I arrive on the set day, they told me they couldn't do it and have it looks the way I wanted.
I can't stand seams or lines in tint and they wouldn't be able to do it without them. I know some places can do it but I put the money elsewhere in the car by the time I found someone that claimed they could.
I'm not giving up on my guy yet....hopefully money will talk. Either way I'll have him remove the crappy tint on the hatch. I wouldnt mind paying $500/$600 for a great job.
